Who are the Lions?

The International Association of Lions' Clubs is a volunteer service organisation. It is made up of over 40,000 individual clubs grouped under a world-wide organisation. Club members participate in local and international humanitarian service projects emphasising health, community welfare and the promotion of international understanding.

Although the youngest major service club organisation, Lions Club International has grown to become the world's largest. Its 1.4 million members belong to clubs in over 196 countries and various geographical locations. For the history of the Lions click here.

  • People who have decided to dedicate a small part of their time and efforts to support the needy in their communities.
  • People who identify the needs of others and set about meeting those needs.
  • People who enjoy working in comrade-ship to help those less fortunate than themselves.
  • People who enjoy themselves and who experience still further enjoyment while helping others.
