Brussels Heraldic celebrates its 32nd swimarathon, Splash 2015
On Tuesday, 26 May 2015, Heraldic hosted its annual Swimarathon Prize-giving event for Splash 2015 at the Colmar in Woluwe Saint-Lambert. This year funds were raised for our official charities, Nos Pilifs (for several ongoing projects) and for Les Vraies Richesses (to build a garden cabin for their workshops). Both organisations support adults with intellectual disabilities. That theme continued when Evy Ploegaerts, a Belgian Special Olympic athlete gave a moving speech she had rehearsed in English. She received a cheque to help her in offsetting her costs of representing Belgium at the International Special Olympic Games this August in Los Angeles. Of course we awarded those who had helped out, swum and contributed to Splash 2015. There were few dry eyes in the room when Hilde Daniels received the Perseverance Award. The club also announced the support from Splash to a Kathmandu Lions Club providing relief following the series of earthquakes in Nepal. All attending had marked their calendars for either the 13th or 20th of March for next year’s Splash 2016.
